TECH DRIVEN FILM

Geek+ and Circle K have commissioned us to produce a video about the automation of the distribution center (DC). The video goal was to document the new area of the client logistics. The video runs between narration and interviews recorded on the key people from the two companies. The video production included a wide range of scenes, from the old to the new distribution center, until the branding scenes filmed at the shop.

THE STORY

TECHNOLOGY ON SCREEN

The film opens with the robot coming to light and moving closer to the camera. After having a dolly move and traveling shot, the robot exited the storage area, revealing a large site entirely operated by automation solutions, filmed through wide-angle shots.

Rationale

NARRATION AND SCRIPT

Our copywriter’s essential goal was to communicate the change and the company’s advantage in the future. After extensive research, our team elaborated the video script to understand the technologies and benefits behind the upgrade. The video has a start, middle, and end, with the film’s opening to introduce the film’s protagonists to the viewers.

BRAND FILMING

BRANDING SCENES AT THE CIRCLE K STORE

Filming scenes in one of the largest Circle K stores in Hong Kong was essential for this production. Talents and crew were able to capture the scenes adding an element of branding into the video. Our Director created this filming sequence to communicate the happiness of consumers when coming to shop at Circle K.

THE STORY

VIEWERS AND SCREENS

To emphasise the supply chain automation of Circle K, we filmed the screens used by the staff, illustrating the new technology at the warehouse.

Advance Filming Techniques

FLY ABOVE

Our video production team captured the advanced shot with a camera passing above the moving robots and communicating to the viewer the impact of the change and the benefits of this upgrade. Advance security measures were in place for this scene while the film Director, PD, and the filming crew overlooked the shooting procedure.

Full Crew

STORE SCENE

All shots from the confirmed storyboard had to be filmed during the opening hours of the story, something that required a detailed call sheet for all parties to align fully. At the same time to have all required material and supporting the operations of the store. The video producer, filming director and the entire crew had to coordinate for time-efficient video production.

INTERVIEWS AND PEOPLE SHOTS

PEOPLE'S STORY

We recorded on location people’s B-roll and interview multi-cam set up. Each protagonist was arranged on the storyboard to give their information and telling the story of transformation. The people filming took place at the DC, with a series of technology elements shorts with a deep depth of field as a background.
